Assistant Professor of Teaching, American Sign Language
The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, American Sign Language and Deaf Studies program, seeks applicants for a full time 9-month instructor to teach primarily undergraduate courses in American Sign Language and to participate in curriculum development and improvement. This is a non-tenure track position with promotion potential that will be available in August 2026. Qualified candidates should be fluent in American Sign Language, have at least a Master’s degree and at least 2 years of teaching experience at the college level. Curriculum development experiences and certification by the American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) would be beneficial. Candidates will be expected to participate in departmental committee meetings and provide service to the School and/or program.
The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Memphis (www.memphis.edu/csd) is one of the leading academic and clinical programs in the country. This 12-month non-tenure track position is ideal for a strong, innovative clinician whose focus area is adult audiology
and who will provide clinical education in an academic setting. The clinical program
offers the full scope of audiology services to our patients including diagnostic assessments
across the lifespan, hearing aid services, cochlear implant services, bone conduction
device services, electrophysiology assessments, vestibular assessments, auditory rehabilitation,
and auditory processing disorder testing and treatment.

The School and the Memphis Speech and Hearing Center reside in a beautiful, state-of-the-art facility on the University’s Park Avenue Campus. This 12-month tenure track position is ideal for a strong, innovative researcher whose focus area is in adult neurologically acquired communication disorders and conducts research in basic sciences related to adult neurogenic communication challenges or specializes in specific clinical populations. Applicants will have the opportunity to collaborate with our Memphis Speech and Hearing Clinic and their clinical services, including the successful Aphasia Bootcamp held once a year. Those who have earned a PhD or other research doctorate by August 1, 2026, and clinical certification and eligibility for state licensure in SLP are especially encouraged to apply.

Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Instructor (Part-Time)
The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders (SCSD) at the University of Memphis seeks a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist to join
our Memphis Speech and Hearing Center (MSHC) team in a part-time capacity (30 hours/week, Tuesday through Friday). This is an
exciting opportunity to work with diverse populations while contributing to the education
of future SLPs through clinical supervision of graduate students. This role is primarily
geared toward serving pediatric clients, including participating in Porter-Leath HeadStart
screenings, completing speech-language evaluations, and providing pediatric speech-language
therapy, including supporting autistic children.
