About Diane Butler

Dr. Butler obtained her terminal degree from Oakland University in Michigan, her MSN from UTHSC, her Post-Master's FNP from Belmont University, and her BSN from Memphis State University. She has been a Registered Nurse (RN) since 1976 and a Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) since 1995. Dr. Butler joined LCON in 2011. She teaches BSN Clinical Pathophysiology and MSN FNP Practicums. Dr. Butler is a recipient of The Daisy Award for Outstanding Nursing Faculty. She previously was a nursing instructor at UT Martin and was adjunct clinical faculty for Vanderbilt University School of Nursing.

Dr. Butler continues to see patients one day a week in a primary care clinic. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Dr. Butler was a Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) working in staff, education, and administrative positions in a variety of adult critical care departments in hospitals in Jackson, Franklin, and Columbia, Tennessee.

She holds memberships with the American Nurses Association, Tennessee Nurses Association, West Tennessee Nurse Practitioner Alliance, Greater Memphis Area Advanced Practice Nurses, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties, and Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society.

Dr. Butler serves as a manuscript reviewer for several nursing journals and volunteers with Remote Area Medical free clinics. Her research interests include nurse practitioners' implementation of evidence-based practice in primary and acute care, as well as ethical/legal issues in health care and health policy.
