Microsoft, FedEx and the FedEx Institute of Technology
Bringing second event to Memphis
On September 14 and 15, the FedEx Institute of Technology welcomed FedEx and Microsoft to the University of Memphis. On the first day of the two-day seminar, the University of Memphis and Microsoft representatives met and collaborated on opportunities for UofM offer certifications in the entire suite of Microsoft products, primarily focused upon the suite of analytics tools offered by Microsoft.
On the second day, approximately 200 FedEx employees came in person to the institute and 1100+ joined online for two keynote addresses, with the opening keynote given by Adam Smith (CTO, FedEx Express) and Moe Tanabian (VP, Microsoft Azure IoT, Azure Edge, AI). The afternoon keynote was given by Tony Kreager (SVP, Data Engineering and Data Science) and Tim Derrico (VP, Data Platform Engineering) both with FedEx Dataworks. In between these incredible keynote addresses were eight breakout sessions covering a variety of products within Microsoft’s “Power Platform”.
Because of the overall success of the September event, the Institute and Microsoft are announcing a 2-day workshop to be held in October, with Day 1 focused on the Microsoft Azure Development with Day 2 being the Power Platform Summit.
