UofM Receives Grant to Enhance Cybersecurity Training
Empowering the Future Workforce: UofM Launches Cybersecurity Training to Strengthen Digital Defense
The University of Memphis Center for Information Assurance (CfIA) has secured a $500,000 grant to develop cutting-edge cybersecurity training programs. This three-year project, led by Dr. Mohd Hasan Ali (Principal Investigator) and Dr. Dipankar Dasgupta (Co-PI), is part of a larger $7.2 million grant awarded to the National Cybersecurity Preparedness Consortium (NCPC), a five-university collaboration focused on strengthening national cybersecurity.
The goal of this initiative is to create online training courses to help professionals in cybersecurity, IT, emergency response, and leadership roles better protect digital systems. The two courses—“Cybersecurity in Cloud Environments” and “Cyber Identity & Authentication”—will teach critical skills such as:
- Understanding cloud security risks and best practices
- Protecting cloud-based assets from cyber threats
- Implementing secure authentication methods, including multi-factor authentication
- Managing digital identities and access control effectively
By equipping professionals with these essential cybersecurity skills, the University of Memphis is playing a key role in enhancing national security and preparing the workforce for the digital challenges ahead.
