Answers to University & Student Business Services' (USBS) most frequently asked questions are listed below. If further assistance is needed to answer your questions, please submit a Tiger Help Request, which will be answered by University & Student Business Services (USBS) by the end of the day it is submitted.
How do I enroll in the installment Payment Plan?
The Installment Payment Plan (IPP) is offered to help satisfy payment requirements by the appropriate payment deadline listed in the University & Student Business Services calendar. To enroll, please visit your account via TigerXpress and choose the “enroll in a payment plan” link on the left column of your screen.
A 25% down payment of the tuition & fees and a $50.00 non-refundable enrollment fee is required at the time of enrollment. After making the initial 25% payment, the remaining 75% will be payable in monthly installments as follows:
Fall Installment Payment Plans (IPP) will open in July with remaining payments due September 1, October 1, and November 1.
Spring Installment Payment Plans (IPP) will open in December with remaining payments due February 1, March 1, and April 1.
Summer Installment Payment Plans (IPP) will open in May with remaining payments due June 1 and July 1.
Fall 2026 Payment Deadlines:
- Aug. 10: Fee Payment Deadline. All charges for unpaid balances from terms prior to Fall 2026 must be paid in full. Failure to pay all prior balances will result in your Fall 2026 courses being dropped.
- Aug. 11-14: Save my Seat emails will be sent your university email. If you indicate that you plan to attend for the Fall 2026 term, your classes will be held until the FINAL fee payment deadline of August 31. Please note: Students with no outstanding balance on TigerXpress will not receive the Save my Seat
- August 17: Students that have a balance remaining on their account but have not enrolled in the installment payment plan or have not submitted their intent to attend by answering, “Yes” to the Save My Seat email will be dropped from their Fall 2026 courses.
- August 31: Final Fee Payment Deadline. All Fall 2026 balances must be paid in full or enrolled in an Installment Payment Plan. Failure to do so will result in your Fall 2026 courses being dropped
Will I be charged a late fee if I miss the payment deadline?
Late fees are only added to accounts for students that begin their registration for the term after the August 10th payment deadline. We understand that life happens and deadlines may be missed.
Why am I being charged for a meal plan?
First-time Freshman living on campus are required to choose one of the three residential meal plans: All Access, Tiger 14, or Block 150. Students that do not choose one of these options will be automatically enrolled into the Tiger 14. You may choose to go up to All Access or down to Block 150. You make this choice on the Campus Card portal. If you have questions about this policy, please contact dining@memphis.edu. If you have any other questions, please let us know.
Why am I being charged for Tiger Eats?
Tiger Eats is a required charge for any full-time undergrad student with at least one class in person. This is a policy between the University of Memphis and Dining Services. The only appealable reasons for getting the Tiger Eats Charge removed are for dietary restrictions approved by a medical professional and religious reasons. I have a Financial Responsibility Statement Hold, how can that be removed?
In the red box, it says you have to sign the financial responsibility statement. Where it says, to fix: sa.memphis.edu- that guides you to the statement that you need to read and acknowledge. Once you read and acknowledge the statement, the hold will lift.
How do I obtain my Campus ID?
All photo submissions need to be uploaded to the Transact eAccounts app. You can find the app on Android and Apple stores, and it looks like a white circle with two arrows in it. Once you download the app, choose the "University of Memphis" as your school. Once you choose this, you will click on the gear icon in the top right corner. Select "Submit ID Photo." This will be where you can upload the campus ID photos. It will give you an approval or denial based on the photo quality and instructions. Once you submit an approved photo, it will be sent to our office for a final level of approval. Once the photo has been approved, you will get an email notifying you and you can add this ID to your digital wallet.
I am being charged non-resident tuition but I live in Tennessee, how can I update this?
Your residency status must be reviewed and verified through the Admissions Office. They have some required documentation that they must verify qualifies you for in-state residency. Once they have verified and updated your residency status, that change will be reflected on TigerXpress within 24 hours.
I am being charged International Health Insurance, but I have my own insurance, how do I remove this charge?
For questions regarding the International Health Insurance, please contact the International Student Services department. Charges for the insurance are based on your visa status. For questions regarding your department agreeing to pay for your insurance, please reach out to your GA supervisor and notify them of this increased balance.

How do I accept my scholarship?
Student can accept the departmental and private scholarship through Tiger Scholarship Manager; all others should be accepted via your University of Memphis Student Portal.
Why are my scholarships not appearing as authorized or paying toward my balance?
Full-time enrollment (minimum 12 Credit-Hour per semester) is required for the following scholarships.

Why isn’t my HOPE Scholarship reflected on my account?
The TN HOPE Scholarship requires all documentation to be submitted for qualifying students.
Qualifying Criteria:
- A completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is required
- Be a Tennessee resident
- Graduate from an eligible high school in Tennessee
- Academic requirements are:
- Composite ACT score of 21 or a minimum SAT score of 1060
OR
- Overall minimum 3.0 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale, according to the Uniform Grading Policy adopted by the State Board of Education
