Dr. Huigang Liang appointed senior editor of MISQ
Dr. Huigang Liang, FedEx Chair of Excellence and professor in the Department of Management Information Systems, has been appointed senior editor for MIS Quarterly (MISQ), one of the world’s leading academic journals in information systems research. Dr. Liang recently finished a seven-year term as senior editor for the Journal of the AIS and a concurrent seven-year term as associate editor for Information Systems Research at the end of 2025. His new senior editor role at MISQ began in January 2026.
MISQ is widely recognized as a premier journal in the field, publishing cutting-edge research that shapes the future of digital innovation, technology strategy, analytics, cybersecurity and organizational transformation. Dr. Liang’s appointment reflects both his outstanding scholarly contributions and growing leadership within the global academic community.
As senior editor, Dr. Liang will play a key role in guiding the peer-review process, shaping editorial decisions and supporting authors, reviewers and associate editors in developing high-quality research contributions. This leadership role also strengthens UofM and FCBE’s visibility and reputation as a hub for excellence in research and thought leadership in information systems and related disciplines.

Dr. Wendy Bedwell-Torres welcomed new grandson
Dr. Wendy Bedwell-Torres, associate professor of Teaching in both the Department of Management and the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, along with her husband proudly welcomed their new grandson, Noah Emerson, into the world on January 20. Noah made his debut weighing 8lbs. 9oz. Both mother and child are healthy and happy. Noah is their second grandchild and first grandson. Congratulations, Wendy!

Dr. Kate Sorensen published in Journal of Information Systems
Dr. Kate Sorensen, associate professor in the Crews School of Accountancy, was recently published in the Journal of Information Systems for her paper titled “Auditors’ Susceptibility to Affective Bias During Repeated Client Email Exchanges with Mixed Evidence.”
“I have been working on this paper for 10 years, so I am extremely proud to have it published in an A+ journal,” said Kate.

Dr. Subhash Jha secured $3M in grant funding and was published in the Journal of Retailing
Dr. Subhash Jha, associate professor in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, has received over $3 million in external grant funding as PI/Co-PI to support impactful transportation safety research for this academic year.
These awards include:
- $2M USDOT (FMCSA) grant supporting safety and technology-driven solutions for commercial motor vehicle operations and connected transportation systems
- $750K USDOT Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant awarded to the City of Wilmot for the Wilmot Safe Streets & Routes for All Action Plan
- $364K from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office (THSO) focused on distracted and impaired driving behavior in Tennessee
“I am grateful for the support from federal and state partners and excited to continue conducting research with real-world safety impact,” said Subhash.
Additionally, he had a paper titled “The effect of recommendation display position on review persuasiveness: Moderating roles of temporal distance, affect, and valence” published in the Journal of Retailing. Click here to read the entire article.

Christopher Myers published The Octagon
Christopher Myers, assistant professor of Teaching in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management and creative writer, published his 14th book titled “The Octagon” last December. “The Octagon” is a fast-paced, political thriller set originally in Washington, D.C. with stops in Australia, Russia, Albania, Italy and Chicago, among other places. “I am a huge James Bond fan, so my fiction titles are all about political intrigue, good versus evil, mystery-type thrillers,” said Christopher.
He has two forthcoming books planned to be published in 2026 – one fiction and one
nonfiction. The nonfiction book will be titled “International Marketing: Winning in
the New Global Economy.” The fiction book will be titled “Armageddon.”

Dr. Ankur Arora celebrated Zion’s 2nd birthday
Dr. Ankur Arora, assistant professor in the Department of Management Information Systems, recently celebrated his dog, Zion’s, second birthday. Zion is a male yellow labrador retriever who loves chasing wildlife critters, swimming in ponds and playing with every dog he meets at the off-leash park at Shelby Farms. He loves hiking, camping and running. He placed second in last year’s Mutt 5k at Overton Park. His homecoming date was January 3, 2024. Happy birthday, Zion!

Dr. Zabihollah Rezaee published two papers
Dr. Zabihollah Rezaee, Thompson-Hill Chair of Excellence and professor in the Crews School of Accountancy, had two papers published last December.
He was published in Accounting Forum for his article titled “Leveraging environmental management accounting and green ambidexterity for competitive advantage: A natural resource orchestration view.” Click here to read more.

Dr. Zabihollah Rezaee
Dr. Albert Okunade received distinction for his publication record
Dr. Albert Okunade, professor in the Department of Economics, recently ranked in the top 21 percentile among the 72,676 registered RePEC (Research Papers in Economics) authors across 104 countries (the US included) and 4,200 journals in economics and related fields. His research component scores also ranked in the top 20 or better percentile based on the ‘Number of Distinct Works Weighted by Number of Authors,’ ‘Number of Citations Weighted by Number of Authors Discounted by Citation Age,’ ‘Number of Journal Pages Weighted by Number of Authors and Recursive Impact Factors” and the ‘Euclidian Citation Score,’ among other factors. He has published more than 100 journal articles to date.
