Last Thursday, the College of Health Sciences hosted a graduation ceremony honoring students from its Medical Assisting Program, marking an important milestone in their academic and professional journeys. A total of 61 graduates attended the ceremony, representing the August and September 2025 cohorts. Among the graduates were both independently funded students and those participating through partnership programs with GROWWTH and the Memphis Medical District Collaborative.
The event brought together graduates, faculty, and family members and friends who gathered to celebrate the students’ accomplishments. The atmosphere was filled with pride and excitement as attendees recognized the dedication and hard work required to complete the program.
The ceremony featured a series of speakers who shared words of encouragement, reflection, and inspiration. In addition, it highlighted student progress beyond the classroom, with 13 graduates having already passed the NHA CCMA certification exam and others in the process of scheduling or preparing to take it. While some graduates have already secured employment, many are actively preparing to enter the workforce.
In addition to the formal program, attendees enjoyed a variety of refreshments, a photo station, and an opportunity to reflect on memorable moments from the day. The event also included an Employer Showcase, where students connected with representatives from Methodist LeBonheur Healthcare, Regional One Health, LifeDoc, and MOGA, providing valuable networking opportunities as they begin their careers.
The graduation ceremony served as both a conclusion of one chapter and the beginning of another, as students now prepare to enter the workforce equipped with the skills and knowledge gained through the University of Memphis Medical Assisting Program
