Assessments Offered

DEXA Scan

Description: A DEXA scan (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry) is a non-invasive test used to measure body composition and bone mineral density. The test uses two low-dose X-ray beams to calculate body composition and bone density. This scan provides a detailed breakdown of the body’s fat mass, lean muscle mass, and bone mass. This test can be useful for tracking track fitness progress or weight loss, monitoring muscle gain or fat loss over time, and evaluating visceral fat, which is linked to higher health risks. It also provides an evaluation of bone density. Assessment reports are not medical records and are for personal use only. We are not a medical facility and do not offer medical advice or medical interpretation of the results. You must be 18 years of age or older to book or participate in the test.

What to Expect:

  • The assessment takes 30 minutes, with 3-5 minutes for the scan
  • You lie still on a flat, open table while a scanning arm moves over your body
  • It’s painless, requires no injections, minimal preparation (fasted but hydrated preferred and no metal), and uses very low radiation

Cost: $100

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR)

Description: Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) testing measures the number of calories your body burns at rest to maintain essential functions like breathing, circulation, and cellular repair. It gives you a personalized look at your metabolism and is a good tool for helping individuals understand their baseline calorie needs.

What to Expect:

  • The test takes about 15–30 minutes
  • You lie still on a flat, open table while respiratory gases are collected and analyzed.
  • It’s non-invasive and painless
  • You should fast (no food, caffeine, or exercise) for at least 8-12 hours beforehand

Cost: $100

VO2 Max

Description: VO2 max testing measures the maximum amount of oxygen your body can use during intense exercise. It’s considered the gold standard for assessing cardiovascular fitness and aerobic power. The higher your VO2 max, the more efficiently your body can deliver and use oxygen—crucial for athletic performance and overall health. We offer VO2 max testing on either a treadmill or a stationary bike. You must be 18 years of age or older to book or participate in the test. You will be required to fill out a brief medical history form that is reviewed by staff prior to testing to ensure that a maximal exercise test is safe to complete. Per ACSM guidelines, if you are over the age of 65 you will need to obtain and provide proof of medical clearance prior to VO2 Max testing. If you have any pre-existing cardiovascular disease you will need to obtain and provide proof of medical clearance prior to VO2 Max testing.

What to Expect:

  • The test takes around 10–30 minutes of active time, plus setup
  • You will wear a mask that allows for the collection of expires gases (and we will measure how much oxygen you inhale and how much carbon dioxide you exhale)
  • The exercise intensity increases gradually until you reach exhaustion or your limit; it is maximal effort
  • A heart rate monitor is also used to track your heart rate response to exercise

Cost $150
