The University of Memphis College of Health Sciences is thrilled to host the Memphis Youth Athletics Summer Program. This is a four week program that impacts around 300 girls and boys, all ranging from third to eighth grade.

This program aims to teach these youth about developing stronger physical abilities, confidence, and a sense of enjoyment when it comes to overall health and wellness. Centered around track and field, the MYA City Summer Program offers youth the chance to learn and participate in a variety of sports while also building skills in math, reading, and nutrition. Through a blend of informal play and technical instruction, the program promotes character development, healthy habits, and personal growth. These youth will also get to hear from guest speakers about their own personal stories and take field trips to discover more about the City of Memphis!

This program does not charge its participants from under-resourced zip codes in an effort to provide accessible resources and pave the way to healthier futures, making it an extremely accessible, engaging summer camp option for many families in Memphis. In recent years, the program has raised over $150,000 to offset camp costs and scholarships while also providing roughly 3,000-4,000 meals each summer. The MYA Summer Program has provided numerous scholarship and internship opportunities to high school student athletes. We are proud to advance their mission of accessible and fun health education.
