Engineering Day at Herff

E-Day Logo

Every year, the Herff College of Engineering hosts eDay, providing students from the Mid-South the opportunity to visit the University of Memphis and participate in activities and competitions designed to get them more interested in engineering and STEM-related programs.

Get ready — eDay 2026 is coming, and now it’s on Friday!

We are excited to announce eDay 2026 will be held Friday, February 27, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We’ve moved the event to Friday to make it easier for schools to join us for a full day of exploration. The change also supports transportation needs and opens the door for more field trips, homeschool groups and after-school programs to take part. Plus, we’ve extended our hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. so everyone has plenty of time to experience the fun.

Expect more than ever this year with refreshed competitions, new hands-on activities and live demonstrations throughout our engineering spaces. We’re adding details regularly, so check back often and start planning your visit.

Lunch will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Engineering Administration Building lobby (2nd floor). Meals are $5 each, and our convenience store will be open with snacks and drinks. Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Walk ins are welcome to participate in any demonstration or walk-up activity. In addition to our indoor activities, we will have Water on Wheels and Baja Car. Water on Wheels will be in the Engineering Parking Lot. Baja Car will be in the Engineering Courtyard. See the full list of walk-up activities and demonstrations on our website.

Competitions, activities and demonstrations will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. Some competitions may conclude earlier depending on registration numbers. Due to the move to Friday this year, there will not be an in-person awards ceremony. Trophies for first, second and third place winners will be mailed or delivered to schools after eDay.

We are excited to once again offer our student passport activity at eDay. The Herff eDay Passport gives students the opportunity to explore our complex and enter to win a grand prize. One student from the elementary, middle and high school levels will win based on visiting the most locations.

Passports will be distributed during check-in and should be returned to the collection box outside Room 201 of the Engineering Administration Building.

Grand prize values for each level are:

  • Elementary:  Approximately $50
  • Middle School:  Approximately $100
  • High School: Approximately $150

We will be serving lunch from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the breezeway between the Engineering Administration and Engineering Science buildings. The cost is $5 per entrée, which includes a cookie and bottle of water.

Meal options are:

  • Chicken tenders
  • Nachos and cheese sauce

Cash and cards will be accepted. In addition, convenience snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.

We encourage all attendees to light up their social media accounts, school and personal, with pictures from the day. Please share using the hashtag #HerffeDay26.
