About Ms. Jennifer Bubrig
Jennifer H. Bubrig is an associate professor in the Department of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership in the University of Memphis College of Education. She teaches teacher preparation courses and supervises residency and pre-residency teacher candidates in Memphis-Shelby County Schools. In 2025, she received the College of Education Outstanding Service Award and has also been recognized as Supervisor of the Month multiple times.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Education and Master of Special Education from the University of Mississippi. Currently, she is pursuing her doctorate in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership at the University of Memphis.
After extensive classroom experience as a teacher in several local schools in Oxford, Mississippi, and Memphis, Tennessee, her career turned to teacher preparation. She began her journey as a teacher educator as an adjunct instructor and student teacher supervisor at Peabody College at Vanderbilt University.
In 2010, she began working at the University of Memphis as a residency supervisor for the Office of Clinical-Based Practice in the College of Education. She has mentored, supervised and evaluated many residency candidates in various county schools and municipal districts.
In 2015, she was appointed clinical assistant professor and site coordinator in the Department of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership in the College of Education at the University of Memphis.
One of the most fulfilling parts of her work is seeing her former teacher candidates serve as mentors for her current teacher candidates.
In spring 2018, she was nominated for the 2018 Excellence in Service Award for the College of Education for her extensive work building school partnerships in Shelby County schools. In May 2018, she received the Chair’s Excellence Award for the 2017–18 academic year from the Department of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership.
Jennifer has presented nationally on her work, including at the 2017 annual meeting of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education. She currently serves as co-chair of the ICL Undergraduate Recruitment Committee and faculty adviser for STEA.
Jennifer is a member of several professional organizations, including the National Association for Multicultural Education. In 2017, she was inducted into Delta Kappa Gamma, an international honor society for women educators. Jennifer is also a sustainer in the Junior League of Memphis. She is actively involved in the local community, serving in several leadership roles.
