About Paulette Palmer

Dr. Paulette Palmer, a Clinical Associate Professor at Loewenberg College of Nursing (LCON), brings over 47 years of nursing experience to her role. She holds ANCC board certification as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and a Certified Nurse Educator. Dr. Palmer's extensive career encompasses various nursing specialties, including leadership, staff development, academia, and acute, critical, and emergency care settings.

In her teaching role, Dr. Palmer focuses primarily on the adult nursing complex alteration practicum course and contributes her expertise to other courses within the curriculum. Her research interests center on improving outcomes for adult critically ill patients requiring mechanical ventilation, with a particular emphasis on optimizing sedation regimens to reduce ventilator-associated events.

In addition to her academic responsibilities, Dr. Palmer is actively involved in service to LCON. She serves as the faculty advisor for Men Invested in Nursing Development, Support, Education, and Training (MINDSET), offering mentorship to nursing students. She is also engaged in various professional organizations, including the Beta Theta at-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma), where she serves as LCON Counselor.

Dr. Palmer's contributions to nursing education and mentorship have been recognized through awards such as The Daisy Faculty Award for Extraordinary Nursing Faculty and the Paulette Palmer-Robertson Service Award. She is also a dedicated member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
