About Dr. White

Crystal L. White’s primary research interests include Critical Race and Hip Hop Feminisms with specific focus on Black and Latinx Adolescent and Emerging Adult Development, Intersectional Identity Development (Gendered Racial Identity and Sexual Identity). Additional interests include Urban Education Studies and Teacher Preparation with specific interest in Critical Social Media and Hip Hop Literacies, Motivation, Qualitative Research Studies, and Ethnic Identity Studies (e.g., African-American Women in Higher-Ed and African-American Sexual and Romantic Relationships). Her most recent empirical research focuses on how young Black women engage in the practices of sexy selfies in order to (re)define their own identities. .
