Faculty Senate
Senate Charges
Each year, the President and Executive Committee work together to develop charges
for the Faculty Senate's standing committees. These charges lay out goals for the
Senate's work over the course of the academic year. Each committee chair is expected
to present a report to full meetings of the Senate on progress towards these goals,
which are all in the interest of shared governance between the Faculty and Administration
of the University of Memphis. Charges for Academic Year 2026-27 will be posted to
this page over the summer.
From the Articles of Authority and Constitution of the Faculty of the University of
Memphis, Standing Rules, Section 2. Faculty Senate Committees.
"The Senate shall establish committees to study and make reports on matters of concern
to the University Faculty. Committees created by the Senate are committees of the
Senate, receive their authority from the Senate, and shall report to the Senate.
Senate committees shall not act independently of the Senate, and reports from these
committees shall be presented to the Senate for consideration."
