Research Expertise: Biological and biomedical applications

In 2019, Dr. Ana Doblas brought her talents to the University of Memphis. Her interest in engineering came from the broad applicability to help her community. She studied Physics with a minor concentration in Optics and Applied Physics at Universitat de Valencia in Spain, where she obtained her PhD. To date, she has co-authored 37 peer-reviewed journals on advancing fundamental science and engineering in imaging and sensing instrumentation for biological and biomedical applications. She has also won the NSF Career award. Being a woman in the engineering industry can come with many challenges, but Doblas said she has learned that if she works hard and proves that she is a valuable researcher she will make it easier for the next generation of female engineers.
