Brief

Where others dream of change, public health graduates go out and make it. Whether it's investigating emerging diseases, reducing health disparities or advocating for clean air and water, public health is on the front line of addressing some of today's biggest problems. Undergraduate Public Health programs integrate academic rigor with real-world solutions to promote healthy communities. As students earn their degree, they work to address health concerns that affect their community. Students have the opportunity to design and test public health initiatives using an experiential approach through engaged scholarship opportunities.

At the School of Public Health, our mission is to advance public health knowledge through educational excellence and conduct innovative scholarly research while also preparing a community of learners and leaders to improve the health and well-being of populations in the City of Memphis, the state of Tennessee, the United States, and around the globe. We are dedicated to creating a wholesome environment that will foster inclusive and innovative solutions to the public health problems that afflict not only Memphis but the nation at large.

"The strength of any achievement is not only rooted in the depth of mere passion to bring about positive change but also in an undying optimism for the power of a collective force. Together, we as a community can expand the horizon of possibilities for public health through proactive action and make Memphis a healthy city."

Ashish Joshi, PhD, MBBS, MPH, Dean, School of Public Health
