About James G. Gurney

James G. Gurney, PhD, holds the Hardin Endowed Professorship in Public Health at the University of Memphis where he is the Dean of the School of Public Health. Dr. Gurney is a clinical epidemiologist with experience conducting multidisciplinary research on health outcomes among children with chronic conditions. In particular, his research has focused on long-term adverse medical and psychosocial effects of cancer treatment among childhood cancer survivors. He also has research experience in health outcomes related to sickle cell disease, complex congenital heart disease, autism, and pediatric and adolescent diabetes and insulin resistance related to obesity.
