Community Health Jamboree

Abstract

The Memphis Health Jamboree is an event co-created with the community to deepen the connection between Memphis residents and public health. It aims to blend health equity, activity, public health research, and sensory-based design into a single experience. It invites participants to see, taste, feel, and take home health in ways that honor their lived realities. Rather than using a top-down approach, the Jamboree uplifts community voices and co-designs the experience with local residents, creating an environment that feels welcoming, relevant, and truly reflective of Memphis.

In tandem with the Memphis Health Jamboree, the year-round O.K.R.A. (Ongoing, Knowledge, Resource, and Activation) Health Network aims to contribute to annual data-driven progress with the C.O.R.N.B.R.E.A.D. (Community Outreach & Resilience Navigation for Better Resources, Education, Activation & Disease-Prevention) Passport Reward System by allowing Memphis residents to earn rewards by engaging in meaningful, community-centered wellness activities throughout the year.
