Olivia Warfield
MA Graduate Student
About
Olivia Warfield is a Memphis native who graduated magna cum laude from Rhodes College is 2015 with a BA in International Business and a minor focus in International Relations. Upon graduating, she quickly gained experience working in both corporate and nonprofit environments. After working in nonprofit administration at local theatre and education organization Tennessee Shakespeare Company, she decided to revisit education, crossing a bridge from her original business-based background toward the humanities. Olivia's research interests include the interplay of rhetoric, media studies, and philosophy. Her thesis, entitled "Our Kind of Communication": Rhetorical Discoveries of a Resonant Communicative Philosophy on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" explores Fred Rogers's rhetorical choices and their present-day significance through philosophical and sociological discussions inspired by Hartmut Rosa's resonance theory in conversation with Jan Zwicky's The Experience of Meaning and Lyric Philosophy. In her spare time, Olivia loves to travel, go hiking or rock climbing, and nearly anything else that can be enjoyed in the sunlight.
