  • 06/08/2021: Dr. Yongmei Wang, Dr. Xiaohua Huang, Dr. Tang Hoang (Physics and Materials Science), and collaborator Dr. Zhenbang Chen (Meharry Medical College) received PECIR (Program to Enhance Collaborative and Interdisciplinary Research) Grant Award to work together to discover exosome-based molecular biomarkers for predicting impending prostate cancer metastasis.  

  • 03/02/2021: A joined article with Dr. Yongmei Wang " Insights on the coupling of plasmonic nanoparticles from near-field spectra determined via discrete dipole approximations" is published in The Journal of Physical Chemistry C. 

  • 10/1/2020: Ray and co-authors published an article "Immunomagnetic capture and multiplexed surface marker detection of circulating tumor cells with magnetic multicolor surface enhanced Raman scattering nanotags" in ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces. 

  • 07/24/2020: Dr. Huang and her collaborators Drs. Kui Li (UTHSC), Lu Lu (UTHSC), and Yongmei Wang (UofM) received UTHSC/UofM SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 Research CORNET Award to investigate host genes, immune response and susceptibility/resistance to SARS-CoV-2. 

  • 07/17/2020: Postdoctoral fellow Rajashekhar Kanchanapally received and accepted an offer for a tenure-track faculty position from Tougaloo College, the Department of Chemistry and Physics.    

  • 07/01/2020: Dr. Huang and her collaborators Drs. Thang Hoang (Physics and Materials Science), Yongmei Wang, and Hongmei Zhang (Public Health) received a NIH R15 grant from National Institutes of Cancer (NCI) to evaluate the potential of exosomes for cancer diagnostics and staging in the breast cancer model.

  • 12/01/2015: Saheel Bhana received a job offer from National Water Quality Laboratory, U.S. Geological Survey. 

  • 11/05/2015: Dr. Huang co-led a panel discussion with Dr. Wang on "Meet the challenges in nanomedicine by bridging the gap between theory and experiment" at the 2015 SERMACS-SWRM conference in Memphis, Tennessee.

  • 11/04/2015: Dr. Huang organized a "Cancer Nanotechnology" symposium at the 2015 SERMACS-SWRM conference in Memphis, Tennessee.

  • 08/20/2015: Elise Chaffin received the CIBA award for Fall 2015 from our department. 

  • 06/24/2015: Saheel Bhana passed his defense for PhD degree.  

  • 05/12/2015: Saheel Bhana published a cancer therapeutic paper "Near-infrared-absorbing gold nanopopcorns with iron oxide cluster core for magnetically amplified photothermal and photodynamic cancer therapy" in ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces.   

  • 04/15/2015: Saheel Bhana has been selected for an appointment to the Summer Student Research Program at the National Center for Toxicological Research (NCTR), US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He is one of the 17 recipients out of more than 200 national applicants. 

  • 04/07/2015: Dr. Huang received a NIH R15 grant as a principle investigator. This is a three-year project to support the development of new technologies for capture, detection and analysis of circulating tumor cells, in collaboration with Dr. Yongmei Wang and Dr. Bashir Morshed (Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering). 

  • 02/23/2015: Saheel Bhana passed his prospectus toward PhD degree. 

  • 02/17/2015: Our invited review article “ Nanotechnology for enrichment and detection of circulating tumor cells” is published in Nanomedicine (Lond).

  • 02/04/2015: Saheel Bhana have been selected as the student presenter at the 27th Annual Student Research Forum on March 30, 2015. This is a wonderful opportunity for him to share with the University of Memphis community the great work that we have been doing in our lab.
