jeannette castor – august 7, 2026

Meet Jeannette Castor, a senior majoring in Business Management and graduating in Spring 2027. As a Dean's List Honoree and Honors Program student, Jeannette is committed to academic excellence while seeking opportunities that challenge her to grow.

Last spring, Jeannette completed the MILE Program, where she built meaningful connections and was paired with her mentor, Dr. Marja Marin-Caruth, whose support and encouragement made a lasting impact on her collegiate journey. She also participated in the International Management Study Abroad Program in Volterra, Italy. This transformative experience inspired her to learn more about different cultures and better understand people from around the world. She encourages fellow students to study abroad, saying it offers new perspectives and changes the way you see the world.

Outside of the classroom, Jeannette enjoys exploring new restaurants with friends and is passionate about leadership — always looking for opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.

vinnie heeney – july 31, 2026

Meet Vinnie Heeney, a rising sophomore majoring in Supply Chain Management with a minor in Professional Selling, expected to graduate in 2029. Vinnie is making an impact on campus through his leadership, school spirit and commitment to serving others.

Vinnie is a first year Frosh Camp Counselor, an officer for the Kappa Alpha Order fraternity, a member of the Weil Scholars Program and a student of the Helen Hardin Honors College. Through these organizations, he enjoys building connections with fellow students and contributing to the University of Memphis community.

When he's not in class or on campus, Vinnie is a passionate sports fan. You'll often find him cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, the Memphis Grizzlies and of course, our Memphis Tigers!

iyanna dixon – july 16, 2026

Say hello to Iyanna, a rising sophomore majoring in Business Accounting with a minor in Aerospace Studies. She is passionate about leadership, service and making meaningful connections across campus.

Iyanna stays actively involved through Air Force ROTC, the Student Government Association, Orientation and Tiger Elite, where she enjoys welcoming and supporting new students while continuing to grow as a leader.

tyler turnage – july 8, 2026

Meet Tyler Turnage, a junior Business Management major with a Community Action and Social Change minor, expected to graduate in Fall of 2027.

Tyler is actively involved across campus through Frosh Camp, New Student Orientation, Student Government Association (SGA) and serves as Vice President of EMOC. Beyond the classroom, he is pursuing his Commercial Pilot License at Luke Weathers Flight Academy while also working as a Success Coach at Peer Power Institute, where he has had the opportunity to participate on the organization's debate team.

His passion for leadership and service extends into his faith, where he is actively involved in the Church of God in Christ and serves on the International Youth Advisory Council for the Southern Region. In his free time, Tyler enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as reading and writing.

Through his commitment to leadership, service and personal growth, Tyler continues to make a lasting impact both on campus and in the community.

Meet Morgan Landry, an Accounting major with a minor in Psychology, who just graduated this past May!

Morgan is a recipient of the TSCPA Educational & Memorial Foundation Scholarship, a Dean’s List honoree, Honors Program participant and was selected for the President’s Leadership Awards and Honors Assembly.

Outside of the classroom, Morgan pursues creative passions like playing guitar, writing, drawing and even creating a visual novel as a personal project!

rajat sharma – june 26, 2026

Meet Rajat Sharma (Marketing PhD Candidate, ‘27)

Rajat’s research explores sales management and the psychological drivers behind consumer decision-making. He has presented his work at the Society of Marketing Advances (SMA), Southeast Marketing Symposium (SMS) and the National Conference in Sales Management (NCSM). He was also recently published in the Marketing Management Journal (MMJ).

On campus, Rajat manages the Customer Neurolnsights Research Lab (C-NRL) in the Department of Marketing, and serves as a Research Coordinator for the Institute for Intelligent Systems Student Organization (IISSO).

Outside the classroom, he’s passionate about rock music, motorcycles, billiards and plans to take up snooker this summer.

Reggie Holder

May 27, 2026

Let’s shine a light on Reginald “Reggie” Holder, a senior Business Economics major on track to graduate in December 2026.

Reggie has served as the social media coordinator and co-lead for the Benjamin Hooks Academic Achievement and Mentoring Initiative. He has also served as a resident advisor in the Living Learning Complex with Housing and Residence Life for the past three semesters.

Professionally, Reggie is currently interning at International Paper as a global supply chain intern in the Recycling Department. Last summer, he gained experience as an HR intern with Rentokil Terminix.

Outside of school and work, Reggie enjoys going to the gym, thrifting at Memphis Vintage Markets and playing golf.

Donea Sykes is a current MBA student continuing to make an incredible impact through leadership and service on campus!

She serves on the leadership board for UofM SHRM and supports leadership programming through Fogelman Leaders in Action as a Program Assistant. Donea is also a recipient of the Memphis Chapter of NBMBAA Rafael Dodd Scholarship and has earned her SHRM-CP Certification.

Lena Ahmed

Say hello to Lena Ahmed.

As a first-generation college student, double majoring in Finance and Marketing with a concentration in Real Estate, Lena has made the most of every opportunity at FCBE and recently graduated a year early over the weekend!

From earning the Academic Excellence Award and CPCD Executive Level to participating in New Memphis Accelerate, Lena has continued to lead with excellence both inside and outside the classroom. She’s also gained hands-on experience through her internship with St. Jude ALSAC and always made it a priority to stay involved on campus through the FCBE Finance Club, SHRM and Phi Kappa Phi.

Outside of academics and professional growth, Lena enjoys cooking, traveling, meeting new people and trying new things.

Raven Lerma-Jauregui

Meet Raven, a senior double-majoring in International Business & Japanese, graduating this fall!

She serves as Treasurer for the Students of the Japanese Program, a tutor & TA in the Japanese department and volunteers with Service on Saturday. Raven has also gained hands-on experience as a DFLEX intern, working with Deloitte and UofM to implement Oracle systems.

After studying abroad in Tokyo (twice), she’s built a strong global perspective in culture and business. Outside of school, she enjoys strength training, running 5Ks and reading Japanese comics.

Kilea Jenkins

Meet Kilea Jenkins, a Human Resource Management major with a Social Justice minor, graduating in May 2027.
Not only has Kilea maintained a 4.0 GPA, but she currently serves multiple leadership roles within Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc, P.A.U.S.E and Black Scholars Unlimited. Professionally, she is a Talent Acquisition Intern at AutoZone Headquarters, gaining hands-on HR experience.

She also gives back through A Room at The Inn and community clean-ups. Outside of academics, she enjoys cooking, traveling, running 5Ks and spending time with friends.

As a dedicated leader, scholar and servant, Kilea continues to make an impact everywhere she goes.

Megan Waugh

April 23, 2026

Meet Megan Waugh, recipient of the Academic Excellence in Marketing Award! Megan is a junior marketing major with minors in dance and public relations, expected to graduate in Spring 2027.

She currently serves as Chapter President of Alpha Delta Pi and has also held leadership roles as Director of Public Relations and Vice President of Marketing. Through her work on the marketing team, her chapter has earned multiple Marketing Excellence Awards and the recognition of Outstanding PR and Marketing.

Outside the classroom, Megan is also a theatre performer who recently wrapped a five-week run of Mamma Mia at @theatrememphis! This summer, she will be interning at a boutique marketing agency in Fort Wayne, IN while continuing to explore theatre opportunities.

Jake Williams

Meet Jake Williams (Accounting, ’26) at the University of Memphis.

Jake is the President and co-founder of CALD (Career Advancement for Leadership & Devotion), a faith-based business organization focused on helping students grow spiritually while developing as future professionals. From hosting business leaders to leading Bible discussions and workshops, he’s creating a space where purpose and profession align. He’s also involved in Beta Alpha Psi, NSLS and campus ministry with The Table at OIKOS Church.

Jake gained hands-on experience through an accounting internship with Landers Auto Group, supporting financial operations across multiple locations. After graduation, he plans to pursue public or corporate accounting and to earn his CPA.
Outside of academics, Jake is a sports fan, active church volunteer and stays busy even mowing lawns on the side.

Driven by faith, leadership and service—Jake is making his mark as a Business Tiger.

Cierra Dennis

Let’s shine a light on Cierra Dennis! Cierra is a senior International Business major with minors in Chinese, Spanish and French, representing excellence in both global business and language studies.

She serves as President of the Fogelman Student Delegate Board and is the Founder & President of the Black Business & Community Alliance, while also staying active across the Honors College and multiple cultural organizations.

Cierra has earned top honors including the Dean’s Outstanding Senior Award, Outstanding International Business Student Award, Joseph R. Riley Award and Carson’s Circle Award. She is also a 1st place Undergraduate Student Research Forum winner for her research on Mandarin Chinese & Dyslexia.

She gained experience as a Finance Intern with Dell Technologies and studied abroad in France and Japan. Outside the classroom, she enjoys reading, movies, musicals, solving puzzles and spending time with loved ones.

Get to know Alex Wiley, a junior majoring in Supply Chain Management with a minor in Real Estate, graduating in Spring 2027. Alex is making the most of his college experience by staying actively involved across campus and pushing for excellence both academically and professionally.

He is a member of the Black Student Association, the MILE Program and the Supply Chain Student Association. In addition to his involvement, Alex is an Emerging Leaders Scholarship recipient and has earned a spot on the Dean’s List, highlighting his academic performance.

Alex has been gaining real-world experience through a Supply Chain internship with Freeport-McMoRan based out of Phoenix, a role he has held since last summer. This opportunity has allowed him to build valuable industry knowledge and sharpen his skills in the field.

Meet Amara Sok, a senior majoring in Management Information Systems set to graduate in December 2026. Amara is a dedicated campus leader who currently serves as the President of the Asian American Association, working to build community and celebrate culture on campus. She is also a protégé in the Memphis Institute of Leadership Education (MILE) program and was honored to be selected as a 2025 Homecoming Court Finalist.

Professionally, Amara is gaining valuable experience as a Data Analyst Intern with the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office. Every day she is developing her skills in data analysis and problem-solving. In addition, she works part-time as a sales lead, balancing leadership responsibilities both on and off campus.

Through her leadership, professional experience and commitment to excellence, Amara continues to make a meaningful impact within the campus community.

Though he’s technically an online student, Jose prioritizes staying connected to campus by attending monthly Finance Club meetings, gathering with various study groups and actively participating in student life opportunities.

Jose is currently interning at Hilton’s Memphis corporate office on the Accounts Payable team, gaining hands-on experience in the corporate finance world. He recently stepped into a volunteer leadership role helping students transition from high school to college — a position he values because it allows him to mentor younger students and give back in a meaningful way.

Alex RamirezMeet Alex Ramirez, a junior Business Management major with a Spanish minor, set to graduate in 2027. Alex is a first-generation Hispanic student from Memphis who grew up in Moscow, TN.

He believes you don’t need perfect conditions to start something—staying consistent and taking chances can open doors.

On campus, Alex is involved in the Hispanic Student Association, EMOC and he volunteers at Middle College High School.

Outside of school, Alex enjoys making music and works as a cameraman. He films concerts and events in Memphis, Nashville and Atlanta. Alex shows that hard work, creativity and taking chances can turn ideas into real opportunities.

Sanara FoneskaOriginally from Sri Lanka, this stellar student arrived in Memphis in January 2023 and has made an incredible impact on campus. Sanara Foneska first earned her MBA in Fall 2024, and she just graduated with her MS in Information Systems at the most recent commencement ceremony.

During her time at FCBE, Sanara served as a graduate assistant, was president of the UofM SHRM Student Chapter and was actively involved in Fogelman Leaders in Action (FLA) program. In Summer 2024, she also gained hands-on experience as a conference intern for the Tennessee SHRM Conference and was named Student of the Year at the 2025 SHRM Memphis Excellence Awards.

Terri StingleyMeet Terri Stingley, a Fall 2025 graduate majoring in Finance.

Terri has been actively involved on campus serving on the Student Activities Council, the Student Government Association and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He also holds his Tennessee real estate license and has a strong interest in trading and the financial markets.

Terri shares that the Center for Professional Career Development (CPCD) helped him grow, build confidence and become business ready. After graduation he plans to pursue his MS in Finance and work toward a career in corporate finance.

Breia CraftSay hello to Briea a senior Marketing major graduating in spring 2026.

She’s a member of the Helen Hardin Honors College and the Emerging Leaders Program, and she’s a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Briea serves as a marketing intern with Memphis Athletics and works on the Communications Game-Night Staff for the Memphis Grizzlies. She also spent this past summer in Event Operations with the Atlanta Braves during MLB All-Star Week which she calls an amazing experience.

Originally from Atlanta, GA, Briea loves going to sporting events, spending time with friends and family, staying active in her church community and serving others. Another fun fact is that she’ll be graduating in just three years!

Alicia CebrianMeet Alicia, a standout accounting student who recently earned her BBA in May and is now pursuing a MS in Accounting with a concentration in Tax Compliance and Planning.

She has completed internships with Watkins Uiberall and Mid-South Milling Company where she has built strong skills in accounting and tax work. Currently, she is working as a tax intern at FedEx.

Alicia has served as an officer for Beta Alpha Psi and continues to make an impact on campus. Outside of school she enjoys movies, reading and time with family and friends.
She plans to take the CPA exam in 2026 and keep growing in the accounting and tax field post-graduation.

Brock LipseyIntroducing Brock Lipsey Sr. (Accounting, ’25)!

Brock is a first-semester senior with a powerful story of ambition and resilience. He initially began his collegiate career at the University of Memphis in 2016, and returned in 2023 with a renewed purpose and a clear path forward.

Brock brings real-world managerial experience with five years at UPS. He currently works in the tax department at ATA where he continues to grow in the accounting field.

Outside the classroom he loves playing golf, running and spending time outdoors.

Brock plans to graduate in May and we are proud to celebrate his journey and dedication.

JadeMeet Jade, a senior majoring in Finance with a concentration in Real Estate!

On campus, she serves as the Fogelman Finance Club Vice President. Proudly, Jade has boosted meeting attendance by 300% all whilst creating and coordinating the organization’s meeting and event schedule. She also shines in Beta Alpha Psi as the Finance Liaison and Service Coordinator where she connects members to opportunities, grows their social media and coordinates volunteer projects.

Outside the classroom, Jade is a real estate girly with a passion for hospitality. She has earned a Hotel Development Certification and is currently creating a documentary called Room 211: Checking in for Survival. This documentary aims to explore how Memphis economy hotels have become shelters for people and families facing housing instability.

She also loves content creation, fashion, reading and spending time with her family and her dog.

Thrinath ThulasisankarLet’s shine a light on Thrinath Rayalacheruvu Thulasisankar!

Thrinath is a Management Information Systems graduate student who’s making his mark through leadership, innovation and academic excellence.

He serves as the Outreach Director for AMIS, achieved the CPCD executive level distinction and is active in the Graduate Students Association, Indian Students Association, NSLS and the Hindu Students Organization.

Thrinath interned with FedEx Air Operations and now contributes to a research project developing an AI-enabled learning platform. He also works as a Graduate Student Assistant for Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation and earned the Graduate Student Success 4.0 GPA Award.

Outside the classroom, he enjoys chess, volunteering, traveling, gardening and blogging.

Misha AnthonyMeet Misha Anthony, a recent FCBE Master of Science in Information Systems graduate!

During her time at UofM, Misha earned first place in the AMIS Cybersecurity Challenge, joined the Lowe’s Leadership Experience in North Carolina and was selected for the Deloitte Future Leaders Program—all while serving as a Graduate Assistant at the FedEx Institute of Technology.

She also earned certifications in Data Analytics, Project Management and Executive Leadership through the Fogelman College of Business and Economics. Outside of academics, Misha loves painting, digital art and giving back through community service.

David AsanteGet to know David Asante (Master of Science in Information Systems, ’25)!

David is a dedicated graduate student and active leader in the UofM community. He’s an engaged member of the Ghanaian Students Community, the Association of Management Information Systems, the African Students Association and the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Awarded a full scholarship by the Government of Ghana, David continues to excel academically and professionally. He achieved the executive level of the Center for Professional Career Development (CPCD) program in fall 2024 and he currently serves as an intern for their office. Additionally, he was one of ten FCBE students selected to participate in Lowe’s Leadership Experience program last spring.

Lilian Cano HernandezMeet Lilian Cano Hernandez (BBA, Accounting ’26)! Lilian is a senior who transferred from Southwest Community College where she earned her associate’s degree before continuing her academic journey at the Fogelman College of Business and Economics.

This past summer Lilian was recognized as a TSCPA Scholarship Recipient which celebrates her hard work and dedication to the accounting field. She has already gained hands-on experience through two internships — with Aztec Masonry Inc. and most recently with McDaniel Whitley Bonds and Insurance. There, her skillset strengthened and passion deepened for the construction and contracting industry.

Beyond the classroom Lilian enjoys drawing and working out at the gym; finding balance between creativity, wellness and career growth. Jayde HensleySay hello to Jayde Hensley (BBA Accounting and Business Management ’25, MBA ’27)! Jayde is a driven FCBE graduate student pursuing her MBA while studying for the CPA exam.

Recently, she graduated Summa Cum Laude through the Helen Hardin Honors College, received the TSCPA Scholarship and became a member of the Tennessee Society of CPAs. Her academic dedication has continued into her professional journey as she took on a new role with HHM CPAs as a Staff Accountant where she specializes in dealership accounting.

Before stepping into her full-time role, Jayde spent 2.5 years in the automotive industry as an Accounts Receivable & Controller’s Assistant and completed a dealership tax internship at HHM CPAs from Nov. 2023 to June 2025 gaining valuable hands-on experience that clearly set her up for success.

Outside of work and classes, Jayde enjoys going to the gym, creating art and spending time with family and friends. Her balance of hard work, faith and passion continues to make her shine both personally and professionally.

Emma JamesSay hello to Emma James! She is pursuing her MS in Accounting Analytics with a concentration in Tax Compliance and Planning and is expected to graduate Spring 2026.

Emma has gained real world insights through her hands-on tax internships with CBIZ, Watkins Uiberall and Forvis Mazars. While in the field, she has worked on a variety of federal and state tax returns. Additionally, Emma proudly represents the Crews School of Accountancy as a graduate assistant and a virtual accounting tutor for the Learning Center. When she’s not crunching numbers or tutoring peers, Emma enjoys connecting with the FCBE community and sharing her knowledge to help others succeed.

Max PurifoyMeet Max Purifoy (BBA, Accounting ’25)! Max is an active member of the Honors College and a recent TSCPA scholarship recipient. Alongside excelling in his coursework, he has built an impressive resume through internships with ATA CPAs, FedEx Tax and now HHM CPAs; where he will begin a new role as a Staff Accountant after graduation this December.

Outside the classroom Max enjoys staying active outdoors, playing games and sports and spending quality time with his wife, family and friends. He and his wife, who got married last December, love to keep moving and make the most of their time together.

Chris DuncanMeet Christian “Chris” Duncan (BBA Finance with a concentration in Real Estate ’28)! Chris is a sophomore who is already investing in leadership, service and professional growth at FCBE and beyond.

On campus he is actively involved with NAACP and Empowering Men of Color (EMOC). He served as an Orientation Guide and participated in the President’s Perspective program. Beyond the classroom, Chris is also a licensed realtor in Tennessee — gaining real-world experience in the industry he plans to build his career in.

Originally from Memphis, Chris enjoys traveling, working out, hanging out with friends and exploring nature. His passion for finance and real estate continues to open doors as he develops into a future business leader.

Sicilee KeysSay hello to Sicilee Keys (BBA, Management ’28)! Sicilee is a sophomore majoring in Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and she is already making her mark as a leader and innovator at FCBE.

She has participated in the ImagineU program with the Crews Center for Entrepreneurship. Through this, she gained valuable hands-on experience in venture creation. She also serves as a Crews Student Ambassador. On campus, Sicilee is a Resident Advisor; as such, she is helping to build community for fellow students.

Originally from St. Louis MO, she enjoys trying new foods, traveling, spending time with friends, and family and doing hair. Sicilee aspires to be a serial entrepreneur drawing inspiration from every new experience she takes on.

FavourLet’s give a shoutout to Favour O. (PhD, Business Administration – Economics ‘26). Favour is a 4th-year doctoral student and President of the African Student Association (ASA), an active student organization on campus known for hosting events like African Week and A Night in Africa: Faux Wedding during the ‘24-25 school year.

Favour has received several awards including the FCBE Outstanding Economics Graduate Student Award, Barbara Tuckman Memorial Fellowship Scholarship, UofM Division of International Affairs leadership award and was featured in the GSA Spotlights. Other honors include the 2023 Campus Community Excellence Award, Program Track Outstanding Student Award and GSA 20 under 35 Award.

Favour was also named a 2025 ASHEcon Diversity Scholar and was selected to present at national conferences like the NBER Mentoring Program on Aging and Health Economics Research and the NBER Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities Conference. Favour received full funding to present research at the 2025 AEA meetings, the 99th WEAI Conference, the SEA graduate student sessions as Memphis rep and the 86th ASBS Conference.

Outside academics, Favour enjoys music, going out with friends, meeting new people, trying spicy food and watching movies.

Tiara DeanSay hello to Tiara Dean, a dynamic junior at the University of Memphis who’s turning passion into purpose as she pursues a degree in Marketing Management. With her sights set on graduating in May 2026, Tiara is already making a name for herself through leadership roles, academic excellence and her entrepreneurial endeavors.

An honors student and proud ambassador for the Fogelman Student Delegate Board, she’s a recurring Dean’s List recipient and an active participant in the CPCD Professional Development Program.

Beyond the classroom, Tiara is the founder and CEO of Dawn of Day Cookies and Desserts, a growing baking business that specializes in cookies and offers a variety of treats—from cakes and pies to gluten-free and vegan options.

Her talents don’t stop there—Tiara also sings, plays piano, writes, takes photos and loves to workout. As a self-proclaimed foodie, she enjoys discovering new restaurants around Memphis with friends.

Preet ShawMeet Preet Shah, a standout graduate student in Management Information Systems whose journey through Fogelman has been defined by leadership, global perspective and a passion for both professional and personal growth. Set to graduate in December 2025, Preet exemplifies what it means to be a well-rounded and driven business student.

She currently serves as Vice President of Communication for the Student Delegate Board and President of the International Students Association. She is also a a MILE Program Scholar and participated in the Lowe’s Leadership Experience this past spring.

Preet has gained valuable real-world experience through internships at Hilton (Shared Services Strategy and Global PMO) and AutoZone (Finance) and she is gearing up for her next opportunity with the Revenue Science Team at FedEx.

Outside the classroom, she enjoys photography, pickleball, mentoring international students, traveling and discovering local coffee shops around Memphis. After completing her undergraduate degree in Business Information and Technology in Summer 2024, Preet is now embracing new challenges in grad school. She shares: “I’m very grateful for all the five years Fogelman has given me.”

Sai VodelaLet’s celebrate Sai Dheeraj Vodela, who graduated this past spring. Sai, a MIS major, maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout his academic journey and is passionate about both technology and creative expression.

He has worked as a Technical Assistant at the ITS Service Desk and participated in the 2024 AMIS Cybersecurity Competition, showcasing his dedication to hands-on learning and innovation.

Sai interned under Professor Pavankumar Mulgund on a research project titled “Enhancing Compliance Training with LLM-Powered Conversational Agents,” where he developed an AI-powered FERPA training platform using React JS and prompt engineering. His work has led to the submission of a conference paper for the upcoming 2025 International Conference on Information Systems.

In his free time, Sai enjoys mobile photography, capturing creative moments in everyday life and streaming films from around the world to explore diverse stories and cultures.

Gabriela is on the UofM Rifle team, where she has been awarded five All-American awards along with the 2024 Elite-90 Award for Rifle. She also serves on the SAAC executive board as the NIL/PR Chair.

In the classroom, Gabriela keeps busy as an Honors College student with a 4.0 GPA and was recently recognized with the FCBE Academic Excellence in Management Award. She was also nominated for the 2024 FCBE Homecoming Court’s Most Likely to Be a CEO.

When she’s not at practice or studying, she enjoys listening to music, volunteering with her team and calling her family back in Anchorage, Alaska.

Asafe LimaStep into the spotlight, Asafe Lima (BBA, ACCT ’27)!

Asafe was recently appointed as the Social Media Chair for the Fogelman Student Delegate Board. He is also an active member of the Fogelman Finance Club, participating on the TVA Investment Challenge, Bloomberg 2024 Trading Challenge and CFA Global Investment teams.
 
Last summer, Asafe completed the Leadership Summer Internship Program at Bellevue Baptist Church in their Missions Department, where he gained valuable experience in team management and leadership.
 
Outside of academics, Asafe combines his love for running and content creation. He is currently training for his first half marathon and documenting his journey on social media. His goal is to inspire others to push forward and always give their best. He encourages everyone with the reminder: “Nothing is impossible—you can always go one more.”

Luke ModenSay hello to Luke Modin (BBA, ACCT ’25)!

Luke is an Eagle Scout, a recognition he worked hard to achieve and one that continues to shape his leadership skills today.

He is currently interning at RBG, a public accounting firm in the Memphis area, gaining valuable hands-on experience in the field. On campus, Luke serves as the President of Beta Alpha Psi, an honors society for accounting, finance and MIS students. Prior to this role, he served as Treasurer for two consecutive semesters.

Luke has also been actively involved with the Center for Professional Career Development, where he earned the Manager Level in the Professional Development Certificate Program. Outside of academics, Luke enjoys backpacking, camping and running. When he’s not outdoors, you can find him cheering on the Memphis Tigers and Grizzlies! 

ACCT Professor Jeff Nevels praised Luke Modin’s academic performance and leadership, stating "Luke Modin is well on his way to be a Level 5 Leader as described in Jim Collin’s book Good to Great. He possesses a high level of personal drive yet is humble and unassuming. As president of the student organization Beta Alpha Psi, he has taken it to a new level of professionalism greatly benefiting his classmates seeking a career in accounting. I would welcome the opportunity to work with Luke again any time, any where.

After graduating this spring, Luke plans to return to the University of Memphis to pursue an MS in Accounting.

Over the past three semesters, she has served as a Graduate Assistant in the MIS Department, balancing teaching and research responsibilities. As the Vice President of AMIS, she’s played a key role in organizing events, fostering student engagement and building industry connections.
 
She has a strong passion for research, and for the last two semesters has been working with Dr. Pavan Kumar Mulgund on two research papers. Last summer, she gained hands-on experience with an internship at the Crews Center for Entrepreneurship, working on business development strategies and startup initiatives.
 
Outside of the classroom, you’ll likely find her at the library – her happy place – reading poetry or studying. When she’s not in the library, she spends the rest of her free time exploring the city with friends!

A dedicated student-athlete on the Women’s Track & Field Team, Maddie is the mental health chair for SAAC and a team leader for FCA. She’s passionate about giving back, volunteering with Youth Villages, My Town Miracles and Race 4 Reconciliation.

A self-proclaimed coffee addict, she works part-time at 7Brew Coffee and enjoys photography, shopping and music. Maddie plans to pursue her MBA after graduation!

Recently, she and fellow athletes attended an NIL Summit, where they competed in a brand content challenge—and her team won, securing an NIL deal and winning a large cash prize!

Shaun GustafsonStep into the spotlight, Shaun Gustafson (BBA, MGMT ‘24)!

This USAF Veteran currently holds a 4.0 GPA (with 13 A+ grades) and recently received the FCBE Academic Excellence in Management Award. In addition to his exemplary academic standing, he is active in the UofM Air Force ROTC Cadet program, where he achieved a top 25% nationwide ranking at AFROTC field training. Shaun also works multiple part-time jobs and volunteers for various local nonprofit organizations. In fact, he just recently hosted a non-profit volunteer fair at FCBE to spread awareness of current missions and to recruit volunteers.

Shaun will be joining our MBA program in Spring ‘25 while returning to active duty as a military officer and pilot. Keep rocking it, Shaun!

When asked why she chose the University of Memphis, the California native shared, “I chose the University of Memphis not only for the athletic opportunities but the diversity at the school and within the city itself. I love the community here in Memphis and all the support I get from our athletics and academics to help me pursue all my goals.

London Taylor WardIntroducing London Taylor Ward (BBA, MIS ’25)!

While maintaining her status as a Dean’s List scholar, London actively participates in various organizations across campus. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the Student Ambassador Board, NAACP, Phi Kappa Pi Honors Society and serves as a chairman of the Black Scholars Unlimited Community Service. In addition to her involvement on campus, she is deeply committed to serving her community.

V.K. has made an impact as president of the American Marketing Association (AMA) through his enthusiasm & leadership. Terah MomMeet Terah Mom (BBA, ACCT and MKTG ’25)! Terah has proved herself to be a self-starter. Not only is she double-majoring at FCBE, but she has simultaneously held internships with two Memphis-based Fortune 500 companies: FedEx and Sherwin Williams. She has also gained recognition in MILE, the CPCD Certificate Programming and UMRF Ventures. In May, she visited Florence, Italy for her study abroad experience in Entrepreneurial Marketing.

She is currently the Social Media Marketing Intern for the Center of International Education Services and will start an internship next semester with HHM. Way to go, Terah!
