A Twice A Tiger Story: Savannah Kilgore
For Savannah Kilgore, education and academic achievement have always been personal
goals. Savannah saw UofM’s Bachelor’s to Master’s Program as a natural way to continue
her academic journey and build on her undergraduate experience.
“Education and academic achievement have always been deeply personal goals, when the bachelor's to master's program opened for my school, it was only natural that I take it.”
Savannah graduated from UofM in spring 2025 with both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Public Health, making the most of the opportunity to continue her academic journey through the Twice a Tiger Accelerated Bachelor’s to Master’s (ABM) Program.
Building Knowledge and Connections
Throughout her UofM experience, Savannah was able to deepen her knowledge in Public Health while building meaningful connections with professors and peers.
Her coursework also gave her opportunities to explore issues she was passionate about. One semester-long research paper examined the connection between COVID-19, mental health and substance use patterns among college students, exploring the pandemic’s lasting impact on students.
Savannah also developed stronger communication and presentation skills, along with her ability to research complex issues and explore evidence-based solutions that can create change at both the individual and community levels.
Her advisor played an important role throughout both her undergraduate and graduate experiences.
“They clearly care and put effort into addressing any questions or concerns I have while making a path that suits and supports my needs.”
Looking Ahead
Graduating with both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees has given Savannah a strong foundation for her next academic chapter.
She hopes to continue her education through a Ph.D. program, with interests in epigenetics and environmental health. Ultimately, she hopes to give back to her community through teaching at the college level while continuing to explore research that can make a difference.
For Savannah, the journey from bachelor’s to master’s was more than a faster path to another degree. It was an opportunity to keep building on her UofM experience, deepen her knowledge and prepare for what comes next.
