2026 Graduate School Orientation
We're excited to welcome our newest graduate students to the University of Memphis Graduate School community! Join us for an engaging and informative Graduate Student Orientation designed to help you feel prepared, connected, and confident as you begin your journey. We are providing 2 options for you to attend; one at the UofM or one virtually via Teams.
Option 1: Monday, August 17, 2026, from 3:30-5:30 PM | UofM University Center Ballroom
Option 2: Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 5:30-6:30 PM | Virtual Orientation via TEAMS
Fall 2026 Mastering Grad School Series
Graduate school is about more than earning a degree; it's about developing the skills, connections, and confidence to succeed in your program and beyond.
The Fall 2026 Mastering Graduate School Workshop Series features a lineup of interactive virtual workshops led by University of Memphis faculty, staff, alumni, and graduate student leaders. From navigating graduate school and publishing your research to preparing for your career and connecting with campus resources, each session is designed to provide practical guidance you can apply immediately.
All workshops are hosted via Teams and for current and prospective University of Memphis graduate students. Browse the schedule below and register to attend one or all of this semester's sessions.

3MT Competition
The University of Memphis Graduate School is proud to host its inaugural Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition, where graduate students present their research, scholarship, or creative work in just three minutes using a single static slide. Participants gain valuable science communication and public speaking experience while competing for cash awards and the opportunity to represent UofM at the regional competition. Learn more about the competition, eligibility, important dates, awards, and how to participate.
Competition Timeline:
- September 29: 3MT Informational & Resources Workshop hosted by the UofM Libraries from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM in the McWherter Library - RSVP HERE
- Open Sept 30th - Closing Oct 14th: Deadline to upload 3MT presentation video
- November 11: UofM 3MT Competition in the UC Theatre start time is 3:30 p.m.

Join us for this 90-minute information session designed exclusively for UofM employees. Hear from fellow employees who completed graduate degrees while working at UofM, learn about graduate programs, employee tuition benefits, and the admissions process, then Meet the Experts from the Graduate Admissions Team and the Bursar's Office to get your questions answered.
