Coalition of Black Social Workers-University of Memphis (CBSW-UM)

The name of this organization shall be the Coalition of Black Social Workers-University of Memphis Chapter.  An acronym will be CBSW-UM.

Mission

The mission of the Coalition of Black Social Workers is as follows: The Coalition of Black Social Workers exists to engage, connect, and empower Black social work students and professionals in the community, with the goal of increasing awareness about issues specific to the Black community and cultivating a network of support.

- Will be offered in a hybrid format to introduce members and mentorship opportunities as we share our calendar of events for the spring semester.

Virtual meeting instructions

Spring 2022: All CBSW Meeting notifications will be sent via invitation in Microsoft Outlook to your campus email address.  We will be participating in virtual activities with our sister chapter and students across Tennessee.

CBSW-UM is looking for student leaders dedicated to active pursuit of the mission and goals of the Coalition of Black Social Workers.  CBSW emphases Black Excellence in person and practice.  We need leadership today who will support the vision for tomorrow.  CBSW-UM members are encouraged to consider time and commitment in service to the Coalition of Black Social Workers.  Members are invited to contact Faculty Advisor, Ms. Kenya Anderson, to discuss and ecplore leadership opportunities.

NOTE: In order to be eligible for and maintain an executive board position, the student must be in good academic standing with the School of Social Work and demonstrate commitment to the mission through engagement, practice,and service.
