Tiger Family Resource Hub: Staying Connected to the UofM

 

You are just as much a part of the Tiger Family as your student and we want to make sure that you have opportunities to be involved and connected to the UofM too! We believe that your involvement and connection with the University of Memphis is important for the success of your student and we think you will have a lot of fun too!  

Parent & Family Association

The University of Memphis considers parents and family members to be valuable partners in student success. The Parent & Family Association (PFA) is a way for you to be informed and involved as partners in the education of your student.

Membership in PFA allows you to connect and engage with the UofM while providing you with information and opportunities to support your student's learning. By providing you with access to information and staff who can help you, the PFA helps you to empower your student to take personal responsibility for social and academic choices. Additionally, the Association serves as a guide to understanding your student's experience at UofM.

Parents and families can join the PFA for a fee that is utilized to provide increased accessibility, services, and events for families. Membership in the Parent & Family Association provides members with a community-based connection to the university, while also serving as a vehicle for input and feedback to campus programs.

Parent & Family Weekend

Whether you are a local or from outside the Mid-South, Parent and Family Weekend is a wonderful time to connect with your student in their new home, visit campus and get to experience life as a Tiger! You will have the opportunity to meet other Tiger families, faculty and University administrators. Mark your calendar to join us! 

During Parent & Family Weekend, there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy time with your UofM student and enjoy time as a family. Visit the Parent & Family Weekend Schedule page for more information on what previous Weekends have included.

Send Some Love to your Student

Your student may or may not admit it, but they will probably miss home in some way. Whether you carefully craft your own letter or care package or take advantage of one of our on-campus services, they will appreciate the gesture and will be happy to know you are thinking of them! An encouraging note from loved ones can go a long way, and you will gain bonus points for sending snacks or treats that can be shared with hallmates and friends.

The Parent & Family Services office offers Hugs from Home early in the semester and Finals Care Packages at the end that you can order for your student and send some love.

Embrace UofM Traditions

We have many traditions at the UofM and we hope that you will embrace them just as much as your student.

Parents for Penny: Parent & Family Spring Day

Parents for Penny: Parent & Family Spring Day is an opportunity to join fellow UofM parents, families, and students for a spirited day in the Spring as we cheer on the Tigers at a basketball game and enjoy downtown Memphis. The event is an opportunity to connect with the University of Memphis, support your student, get to know fellow parents and families, and show your Tiger pride.
