LTC SAMUEL D. SMITH, Professor of Military Science and Battalion Commander

  A native of Indianapolis, IN LTC Samuel D. Smith enlisted into the U.S. Army in 1999 as a Construction Engineer 62E, assigned to 618th Engineer Company, 307th Engineer Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division. He received his commission in May 2001, upon graduation from Officer Candidate School (OCS). 
  LTC Smith graduated from Quartermaster Officer Basic Course in September 2001, and reported to 5th Maintenance Company, 51st Maintenance Battalion in Kaiserslautern Germany, where he served as the SSA Platoon Leader, and Executive Officer. In 2003, he was reassigned as the Battalion S4 of the Troop Support Battalion (TSB) 21st TSC.
   September 2004, LTC Smith was reassigned to Ft. Lee, VA where he attended the Combined Captains Career Course. In May 2005, LTC Smith deployed to Falujah, Iraq where he served on a Military Transition Team (MiTT) as BDE S4. May 2006, he redeployed and was assigned to 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3ID.

   September 2006, LTC Smith assumed command of Echo Company 1-3 AVN ATK Battalion 3rd CAB. He deployed his unit to Camp Stryker, Iraq for 15 months during the surge 2007-2008. Upon redeployment, he relinquished command Nov 2008. Following command, he attended Graduate School at Webster University and received his Master of Business Administration Degree 2010.
   September 2010, LTC Smith was assigned as BDE Service and Supply (S&S) Officer, 3rd Sustainment Brigade, 3ID. He deployed to Joint Base Balad, Iraq 2010-2011. Upon redeployment, was reassigned as Battalion Support Operations Officer (SPO), 87th CSSB, 3rd SBDE, 3ID; Jun 2011- Jun 2012.
   July 2012-2013, he attended Command and General Staff College (CGSC), Ft. Leavenworth KS. Upon completion, LTC Smith was assigned to 602nd Aviation Support Battalion, 2nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 2ID Camp Humphreys, Korea where he served as the Support Operations Officer 2013-2014. He served as Executive Officer of 602nd ASB, May 2014-Jun 2015.  LTC Smith's previous assignment he served as DLA Troop Support Pacific, Chief Korea Area Office Jul 2015 – Jul 2017.
   August 28, 2017, LTC Smith assumed Command as PMS, Army ROTC Tiger Battalion at The University of Memphis.  
   His military awards include the Bronze Star Medal (1OLC), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), the Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), the Army Achievement Medal (3 OLC), the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal (1OLC), the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, the Army Service Medal, the Overseas Service Ribbon (3OLC), and Parachute Badge.
   LTC Smith is married to the former Latassha Miller and has three children: Samuel D. Smith Jr., Desteny, and Diamond.

MSG STEPHEN GRAHAM. - Senior Military Instructor
    Master Sergeant Stephen L. Graham is a native of Mauldin, SC and entered the Army in November 2000 as an Infantryman where he attended One Stop Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Over his career, Master Sergeant Graham progressively served in leadership positions in his career management field. These leadership positions include Infantry Rifleman, Infantry Team Leader, Infantry Squad Leader, Bradley Section leader, Drill Sergeant, Infantry Platoon Sergeant, Operations Sergeant, Infantry First Sergeant, and currently serves as the Senior Military Instructor at the University of Memphis ROTC.
His military education includes: the Primary Leadership Development Course; Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course; Senior Leaders Course; First Sergeant’s Course; Drill Sergeant School; Airborne School, Pathfinder School, Air Assault School, and the Master Resilience Trainer course. He attained an Associates in General Studies. 
Master Sergeant Graham’s previous assignments include: 3rd BDE 82nd Airborne, 1-505 P.I.R, 2 ID 2-9 INF (M), 2-58 INF Fort Benning, GA; Region 5 DCE, Chicago, IL and 3rd BDE 101st Airborne, 1-187 INF.  He has three deployments to Iraq, and Afghanistan.
   Master Sergeant Graham’s awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal (2); Meritorious Service Medal (2); Army Commendation Medal (7); Army Achievement Medal (9); Army Good Conduct Medal (5th Award); National Defense Service Medal (w/ Bronze Star); Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon (4th Award); Overseas Service Ribbon (2); Army Service Ribbon; Iraq Campaign Medal; Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge and Expert Infantryman Badge.
   Master Sergeant Graham is married to Carrie Graham and has two children, a daughter Kayla and a son Casey.
