UofM Board of Trustees: The First Two Years
April 4, 2019
Two years into the creation of our independent governing board and the shift to focus
solely on the needs of our University, the UofM has experienced tremendous growth.
The introduction of new changes such as paid parental leave, visible progress on the
pedestrian cable bridge and launching UMRF Research Park in the heart of the University
District - a step toward our goal of achieving Carnegie I status - are not only impressive,
but profoundly impactful. By having the lowest total tuition and fee increases in
the State of Tennessee over the past five years, we remain committed to the goals
of supporting student retention, connecting students to the campus and helping students
through engagement and involvement.
We have remarkable momentum and have every intention on maintaining it in the coming
years. With 19 programs ranked nationally by U.S. News & World Report and several
new initiatives on the horizon, I'd say the best is yet to come!
