SETE Information for Faculty

The SETE surveys gather student feedback using 18 questions across six instructional areas, along with one overall effectiveness question and two open-ended feedback questions.  The categories and questions on the SETE surveys are listed below.  Faculty additionally have the option to add up to five course-specific questions by logging into myMemphis and selecting “SETE Question Administration” in the “SETE Administration, Monitoring, and Reports” channel under the “Faculty” tab.  Addition of course-specific questions to SETE surveys should be completed prior to the open date listed on the SETE Availability Calendar, at which time students are invited to provide their input online.  Their input is anonymous, and you will not be able to review their feedback until after grades have been finalized.  While the instrument is open for student access, you may monitor the number of students who have completed the instrument for your courses by logging into myMemphis and selecting “Monitor SETE Participation” in the “SETE Administration, Monitoring, and Reports” channel under the “Faculty” tab.  Please encourage students to complete the SETE for your course by communicating the value you place on student feedback.  Once grades are finalized, you will be able to review reports on each course by logging into myMemphis and selecting “SETE evaluation comments” in the “SETE Administration, Monitoring, and Reports” channel under the “Faculty” tab.  If you are preparing your dossier for promotion and/or tenure, the provost’s office website has instructions on using the OIR grade distribution dashboard to get information required on the SETE summary form for multiple terms and courses at once.
