STEP Foundational Program

The University of Memphis offers a one-week STEP Foundational Program resulting in a Certification in Systems Testing at the FedEx Institute of Technology.

The five-day foundational course, developed in conjunction with the FedEx Corporation, provides a broad and comprehensive survey of software testing.

The goal is to provide attendees with a solid working knowledge of the major aspects of software testing so that they can successfully work as software testers or software developers who interact more effectively with software testers.

Topics include test planning and management at both the managerial and technical levels, risk analysis, software testing at the various levels of the traditional software development life cycle as well as in other contemporary software development methodologies, black-box and white-box test case generation techniques, the value of inspections, reviews, and walkthroughs, vulnerability testing, performance testing, user acceptance testing, defect management, testing tools, conflict resolution in software testing, knowledge management in software testing, problem solving in software testing, and quality control in software testing.
