International Social Justice Issues in Mental Health Research Team

Research Team Description: Our team focuses on international social justice issues in mental health, primarily related to human trafficking, refugees, people with disabilities, and recent immigrants. Occasionally we can't resist an international student project or international competence based study that contributes to competence based (and non-imperialist) advancement of the Globalization of Counseling Psychology (or mental health in general). We also work with the community on some non-traditional research outcomes such as scale development for on-going program evaluation that may or may not lead to future studies, but that will contribute to evidence based practice for local organizations working with marginalized groups (and allows us to do more than just stay in our "labs"). We are active contributors at APA, smaller diversity based conferences, and international conferences.

• Examining the mental health and vocational needs of refugees living in the Memphis area
• International students' impact on internationalizing Counseling Psychology Training.
• Counseling Psychology experiences abroad: Does it make a difference on international competence?
