Welcome to the Cognition, Language and Speech (CLAS) Laboratory at the University of Memphis! Directed by Dr. Naomi Eichorn, the CLAS Lab focuses on understanding how attention and other cognitive processes, such as memory and executive functions, interact with speech and language functions. Our current research attempts to determine how attentional factors influence the course of developmental stuttering in young children. We also examine how manipulating attentional resources while speech is being produced affects speech fluency in stuttering and fluent speakers.
