MALS Standard Course Sequence

Students may use the following example as a guide to plan their Coordinated Study grid. Each student's grid may differ from the plan detailed below.

For example, one of our fastest-growing focus areas is Hospitality Management. This MALS discipline is usually coupled with Sport Commerce because of the functional overlap in areas such as event management, marketing, finance, and operations. Other secondary disciplines like Business or Foreign Languages could also be excellent complements to Hospitality Management. Whatever subjects a student may wish to undertake, the MALS program allows that student to have a personal stake in designing his or her own degree.

I. First Semester

1. Submit permit requests at least one week before registration.

2. Students should enroll in UNIV 7000 Foundations of Liberal Studies and UNIV 7100 Research in Liberal Studies within the three semesters for the standard sequence, or within the first two semesters for the accelerated sequence.

II. Second Semester

1. Submit permit requests at least one week before registration.

Note: Accelerated students must complete Core Courses, Special Project Contract, Intent to Graduate and Master’s Candidacy Forms before the Graduate Coordinator will issue a permit for the Special Project.

2. Students who have not completed UNIV 7000 must do so this semester.

Accelerated Sequence

III. Third Semester

1. Submit permit requests at least one week before registration.

Note: Students should bear in mind that all Core Courses must be completed  before a permit will be issued for the Special Project.

2. Students who have not yet completed UNIV 7100 must do so this semester.

3. Accelerated Sequence students should complete the items in the Final Semester.
