About Jamie Brunsdon

Jamie Jacob Brunsdon is an assistant professor of Physical Education Teacher Education in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Memphis. Prior to joining the UofM, Jamie completed his PhD in Human Performance (Sport Pedagogy) at the University of Alabama where he also served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Fellow for the Department of Kinesiology. He received his BA (Hons) in Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy at Manchester Metropolitan University (England, UK) before completing a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Secondary Physical Education at the University of Southampton (England, UK). 

Dr. Brunsdon’s research interests are largely focused on teacher/faculty socialization and applied ethics. Specifically, his research involves studying the influence of the school/university cultures on the quality of teaching/teacher education. Dr. Brunsdon’s research also concentrates on problematizing a neo-Aristotelian interpretation of physical and character education to the field of sport pedagogy. Prior to becoming a teacher educator, Jamie was both a full- and part-time physical education teacher in England. He has also coached various sports and physical activities in a wide variety of different contexts and has international teaching experience.
