  • Books for Kids by Kids, Writing Club
  • Belle Forest Elementary School, Shelby County Schools, 2016-2019
  • Magnolia Elementary School, Shelby County Schools, 2019-2020
    • UofM undergraduates enrolled in LITL 3001 served the community by acting as Writing Mentors in an after-school writing club
    • Weekly meetings held to engage as a community of writers in a culturally responsive manner
    • Fostered an understanding of ways to recognize and amplify the positive identities of elementary students
  • Henderson Ward Stewart Elementary Starkville School District, 2020-2021: Virtual Writing Club
    • Collaboration between the UofM Center for Literacy Research and Practice, College of Education and a 4th grade class from Starkville, Mississippi
    • Met weekly via Zoom to grow and develop as writers
    • UofM undergraduates enrolled in LITL 3001 took up positions as writing mentors to support the 4th grade writers
    • Virtual Writing Expos were hosted on Flip Grid 
  • Campus Community Fund Community Grant
    • Literature Circles: Shared Stories in a Virtual World
    • Collaboration between the UofM Center for Literacy Research and Practice, UofM Honors College and 7th graders attending White Station Middle School in Memphis 
  • Backpack Book Loans
    • During Summer 2020 in response to the academic and economic trials of COVID-19, over 150 books were delivered to Memphis families.
  • Geeter K-8 School, Shelby County Schools, 2021-2022
    • UofM undergraduates enrolled in LITL 3001 served the community by acting as Writing Mentors in an after-school writing club
    • Weekly meetings held to engage as a community of writers in a culturally responsive manner
