UofM Collierville Center Sees Record Growth at New Location
August 26, 2015 - The University of Memphis Collierville Center is experiencing record growth this fall. The campus, which is located at Poplar Avenue and Peterson Lake in Collierville, has recorded 915 enrollments this semester, up 19 percent from fall 2014. The number of students taking classes this fall is 670, an increase of 18 percent over 2014.
The Collierville Center moved into its current facility in January. The 27,000-sq. ft. building is outfitted with cutting-edge technology. All 18 classrooms are smart classrooms equipped with audio and visual equipment.
The number of course sections offered has grown from 63 last fall to 85 this year. The Collierville Center also provides onsite tutoring and advising, along with expanded dual enrollment offerings and a seven-week hybrid format.
"We're very pleased with the year-to-year growth," said Dr. Richard Irwin, vice provost for Academic Innovation and Support Services. "With the intent of creating a destination center for higher education, we have expanded program, course and service offerings. Our goal is to significantly reduce, if not eliminate, the need to visit the main campus for students choosing to fulfill degree requirements at the UofM Collierville Center."
Students may earn bachelor's degrees in organizational leadership and liberal studies or master's degrees in liberal studies or professional studies in human resources management entirely in Collierville. Undergraduate and graduate courses are offered in marketing, management, accounting, education and other disciplines.
