Dr. Katherine Hendrix Receives NCA Outstanding Teaching Award

hendrixDecember 7, 2015 - Dr. Katherine Grace Hendrix of the University of Memphis is the 2015 recipient of the National Communication Association (NCA) Donald H. Ecroyd Award for Outstanding Teaching in Higher Education. Hendrix is a full professor in the Media and Culture concentration in the Department of Communication.

The award is given annually to an individual who exemplifies superlative teaching in higher education. Hendrix was recognized for her outstanding classroom teaching and a devotion to student populations who might otherwise be overlooked. Hendrix demonstrates extensive commitment to responsibly training the next generation of teachers, supported by a distinguished scholarly record on issues related to classroom teaching and learning. She is also widely acknowledged for leadership in institutional, regional and national initiatives related to teaching and learning.

"The communication discipline has a long tradition of exceptional scholarship and teaching," said NCA executive director Nancy Kidd. "We're proud to recognize Dr. Hendrix's contributions with this well-deserved award."
