Bornblum Judaic Studies Will Host International Conference

June 12, 2015 - The Bornblum Judaic Studies program at the University of Memphis will host the International Conference of the National Association of Professors of Hebrew June 22-24 at the Fogelman Executive Conference Center on campus.

Dr. Shaul Bar, director of Bornblum Judaic Studies, is co-chair of the conference. Some 150 professors from Israel, Europe and across the United States are expected to attend the conference. The program will offer more than 100 lectures, most of which will be in Hebrew. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Topics will include Hebrew Literature, Hebrew Language Methodology, the State of Hebrew Language Programs in the U.S., Technology in Teaching, Classical Hebrew Texts and Modern Hebrew Language Curriculum, Teaching Hebrew in Israel and Around the World, and Hebrew Bible.

UofM President M. David Rudd will welcome participants. Rabbi Joel Finkelstein, spiritual leader of Anshei Sphard-Beth El Emeth Congregation, will deliver a message on behalf of the Jewish community of Memphis. Everyone is welcome.
