Aug. 2, 2021 — The University of Memphis will recognize 841 graduates from summer 2021 with a two-hour commencement ceremony beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

All graduates and guests must arrive at the stadium one hour prior to the ceremony for seating. It is encouraged to arrive in the parking areas by 7:30 a.m. to help with traffic flow.

Per City of Memphis guidelines, individuals who have received a vaccination for COVID-19 are not required but are encouraged to wear a mask. Those who have not received a vaccination are asked to wear a mask. Graduate seating will be socially distanced. Graduates and attendees must also abide by the Liberty Bowl's clear-bag policy.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will move to Sunday, August 8, at 11 a.m.

Security Checkpoints

All guests, including participating students/graduates, will go through security checkpoints to enter the field (graduates) and the stadium (guests). The use of metal detection/hand wands will be a part of the security protocol for commencement attendees and guests, and bags will also be checked. We recommend that all graduates and guests limit personal items.

No guests will be allowed to enter the North Tunnel. Only graduates can enter onto the field.
