Updates

11/27/23: MSHC is now able to accept credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and ApplePay) in addition to cash or checks. At this time, we are not able to accept payment through debit cards, but we are working on it. We appreciate your patience as we work through this process.

11/14/23: MSHC clinicians are credentialed with Medicare and Tenncare. We are still working on Medicaid in Mississippi and Arkansas. We accept Amplifon for hearing aids. We are still waiting for the credit card system.

10/27/23: MSHC clinicians are still seeing Medicare and Medicaid/Tenncare patients. Most clinicians are now in-network for BlueCrossBlueShield and some Aetna plans. Unfortunately, we are still only accepting cash or checks for payment. We are working to get a credit card system up and running soon.

9/5/23: MSHC is currently seeing patients. Please keep in mind that at this time we are only seeing patients who are either covered by Medicare or Medicaid, or who pay out of pocket at the self-pay rate. Additionally, we can only take cash or check at present, but we hope to be able to accept credit cards soon. More updates will be posted here.

8/22/23: MSHC staff and the UofM are working as quickly as possible to get our contracts with hearing aid companies back in place. Once we do, we should be able to order ear molds and hearing aids. We appreciate your patience as we work through this transition.

8/18/23: In addition to using the old FAX number, MSHC also has a new toll-free FAX number: 800-886-4891.  MSHC will also have a patient portal where patients can pay bills and check for reports.

8/11/2023: As of this day, we are no longer billing through Methodist Le Bonheur/ULPS. If you were previously seen at Memphis Speech and Hearing Center, and you were billed through Methodist Le Bonheur/ULPS, you should continue to work with their billing department. If you need to speak with someone directly, please refer to:

Sheila Climer, email: sheila.climer@lebonheur.org  or phone: 901-312-8885

Website for payments:  https://www.memspecialty.com/ to pay UT LeBonheur directly.

Any future appointments or bills will be handled by MSHC and University of Memphis staff.

8/4/2023: Please note our Fall Semester will begin September 5th.

8/3/2023: MSHC will continue to serve all traditional Medicare and Medicaid patients (including TennCare) as well as those who pay out of pocket without interruption. For those with commercial insurance, the clinicians will be out of network until we can get them reinstated. This includes any commercial Medicare plans.

Patient/client options at this point are:

  1. Continue receiving services and pay the self-pay rate at the time you are seen and receive a super-bill for you to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
  2. Pause services until we are reinstated with your insurance company. (Please be aware this may take months.)
  3. Discontinue services. If this is your choice, we will refer you elsewhere.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this transition. We will use this space to post updates as we are reinstated with different insurance companies

7/31/2023:  The Memphis Speech and Hearing Center (MSHC) at the University of Memphis is working to provide its patients and clients with more timely and responsive scheduling, billing, and communication. As of August 10, 2023, MSHC will no longer be partnering with Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare scheduling and billing. We ask for your patience during this transition. The faculty, staff, and students of the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders look forward to providing the Memphis community the best communication healthcare.
