Accessible Course Materials and Technology

Faculty play a special role in ensuring accessibility.  As instructors, faculty share responsibility for providing students with disabilities equal access to educational opportunities.  As providers of community services and programs (such as organizing conferences, lecture series, performances, or other events) faculty are responsible for providing reasonable accommodation to any participant with a disability, including visitors and community members.

Ensuring Accessibility of Course Materials.  Follow the steps below to make sure your course materials are accessible.

Step 1:  Checklist.  The accessible course materials checklist is intended to be a starting point for making content accessible.  Please review the accessible course materials checklist and checklist tutorial videos here.

Step 2:  Change Plan.  Using the checklist, identify which changes should be made to bring your course materials into compliance.

Step 3:  Training.  Ready to take your first steps in making your documents accessible? Print your completed checklist and bring it with you to accessibility training events provided by the Center for Teaching and Learning. View the calendar here for the latest training availabilities.
