Core Facilities
Core facilities are those facilities on campus that are not managed by a single department. These resources are accessible to any researchers on campus, industry professionals, and other campuses. In addition to the equipment in these facilities, the Core Facilities are staffed by professional operators who perform research functions on behalf of users.
Metal Additive Manufacturing Lab
The Metal Additive Manufacturing Lab operates as a University core research facility located in the Herff College of Engineering. In addition to serving the needs of the College, it provides opportunities for researchers campus-wide to engage in research involving 3D metal printing, and it provides opportunities for involvement with external constituents as well.
Integrated Microscopy Center
Located in the Life Sciences building, the Integrated Microscopy Center provides light/electron microscopy, histology, photolithography and wire-bonding equipment and services. For a full list of resources and fee schedules and to arrange a tour of the facility, visit their site.
High Performance Computing
The University of Memphis High Performance Computing (HPC) facilities enable research programs spanning such disciplines as bioinformatics, engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics and more. Support for HPC is provided through the ITS Research Computing office.
Environmental Health & Safety
The Environmental Health and Safety Office (EH&S) provides environmental compliance and occupational health and safety services that support research, teaching, and administrative functions. EH&S services are designed to protect the environment, personnel, and facilities while promoting compliance with applicable laws, regulations, codes, and consensus standards.
