The Scheidt Family Performing Arts Center Policies
Weapons/Banned Items
To ensure the safety of students, guests, patrons, performers, and all others on our campus, the University of Memphis has explicitly banned the possession and/or use of firearms while on the University of Memphis campus by non-employees, regardless of licensure to own or carry a firearm. Persons found to be in violation will be removed from the event and the building.
For more information, please visit https://www.memphis.edu/police/handguns/.
Additional Items not permitted include, but are not limited to:
- Illegal drugs/substances
- Laser pointers
- Animals (except service animals)
- Noise makers (cowbells, sirens, ect.)
- Fireworks.
Food + Drinks
All food should be enjoyed in the lobby and outside of performance spaces. Guests are asked to consume or dispose of any food prior to entry into the performance.
While drinks are permitted in performance spaces, we ask that all drinks are in covered containers when possible, and care is given to our spaces.
Recording/Photography
No audio or visual recording devices (including video) are permitted at events without written permission of the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music.
However, you may take photos before or after concert performances. No photos are allowed during the performance. Please silence all cell phones and other electronic devices for the event. We also request that guests refrain from text messaging as it distracts fellow audience members.
