The Department of World Languages and Literatures offers two opportunities for scholarship funding, one through an endowed scholarship and the other through a departmental fund:

The Mary Pettus Thomas Memorial Scholarship students pursuing a major in World Languages at the University of Memphis. The amount awarded to the selected student(s) will depend on the individual student's financial need and the availability of funds.

In order to be eligible for the scholarship, students must have a declared major in World Languages, have achieved Junior standing (60 hours), have at least a 3.00 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and have a letter of support from a faculty member in the department.

Students apply for the scholarship through the Tiger Scholarship Manager system, which normally has a February 1 deadline every year.

The Study Abroad Travel Fund is a department program whereby majors in the department can have the cost of study abroad subsidized by the department, which will purchase the student's airline ticket for their study abroad program.  The application form will be posted here when we are accepting applications.
