Program Costs (2023-2024 1st-year Cohort Costs)

Tuition for full-time students (in-state):

  • $10,640 (10 or more credits) for academic year (fall and spring semesters)
  • $3,192-$4,788 for summer semester (6-9 credits)

Tuition for full-time students (out-of-state):

  • $18,120 (12 credits) for academic year (fall and spring semester)
  • $4,530-$6,795 for summer semester (6-9 credits)

University/institution fees or costs:

  • $1,820 (10 or more credits) for academic year. 
  • $91/credit hour up to 10 credits

Additional estimated fees or costs to students (e.g. books, travel, etc.)

  • $1,000

Funding packages include a 9-12 credit tuition waiver for both in-state and out-of state students and a stipend for a 20-hr graduate assistantship (typical 8-month contract covering Fall/ Spring semesters). Stipends range from $100-$1200/month.  There are department and College funds available for student travel to conferences.

On-campus: U of M offers several types of Graduate and Student Family Housing options.

Off-campus: The city of Memphis has a wide range of housing options. Many students rent apartments or houses adjacent to the campus. Thanks to its central location, the University is surrounded by neighborhoods of varying cost.

  • Free access to University events, including sports events, theatre, and concerts
  • At U of M, semester fees include the cost of parking. You have access to all general-permit parking without paying anything extra out of pocket. You also can purchase premium parking passes if you wish. For more information, please Parking Services.

  • U of M features an excellent Student Health Center. No appointment necessary. 
  • The Memphis Plan health coverage is available to all graduate assistants at the University.
  • No extra lab fees: our program does not apply additional fees for any labs taken during your coursework here.
