Student Spotlight: Md Mahbubur Rahman

Posted on 2016-02-01

Ph.D. student Md Mahbubur Rahman has accepted a research position at Nokia's Digital Health Lab.

Mahbub Rahman

Mahbub joined Prof. Santosh Kumar's Mobile Health Systems Lab (then called the Wireless Sensors and Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Lab) in 2009.   He completed his Masters degree in Summer 2014 and is planning to finish his doctorate this spring.  After going on the job market late in Fall 2015, he interviewed with several companies in Silicon Valley, including Fitbit, Qualcomm, Nokia Research, and Nisan Research. In most cases, he was invited to interview for a senior position due to his unique experience in mobile health where it is hard to find candidates with rich multidisciplinary experience. He was approached by Apple as well to interview for a Technical Lead position.

He ultimately passed on the offers from Apple and Qualcomm, and accepted the "Researcher - Health Sensing & Monitoring" position at Nokia in their Digital Health lab as the latter will support him to continue to publish.

Congratulations to Mahbub for a great start to his professional career!
