The links below will take  you to web sites for museums that have ancient Egyptian artifacts. The study of ancient Egypt is international and the links below highlight collections on three continents. National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Cairo (Egypt)

The newly opened National Museum of Egyptian Civilizations holds the most important collection of ancient Egyptian materials in the world. It covers all periods of Egyptian history, from prehistory to modern times.

Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York city houses important collections of ancient Egyptian and Nubian materials. The museum has sponsored archaeological excavations in Egypt for over 100 years and continues to do so today.

Museum of Fine Arts, Boston

The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston also holds significant collections of ancient Egyptian art and artifacts. The museum has sponsored archaeological excavations in Egypt for over 100 years and continues to do so today. The museum also cares for a significant collection of ancient Nubian materials.

British Museum, London (United Kingdom)

The British Museum in London houses one of the largest collections of Egyptian and Nubian material in the world.

Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology, University College London (United Kingdom)

The Petrie Museum at University College London houses significant collections of excavated Egyptian and Nubian material, much of which was excavationed by early archaeologist William Matthrew Flinders Petrie. From their home page you can access information about the history of the collection, current research, activities and access, etc. For information about ancient Egypt, visit their Digital Egypt for Universities web pages.

Louvre Museum, Paris (France)

The Louvre Museum in Paris holds some of the earliest collections of ancient Egyptian and Nubian material. The museum web site has both French and English language versions.

Egyptian Museum, Turin (Italy)

The Museo Egizio (Egyptian Museum) in Turin is devoted exclusively to materials from ancient Egypt and Nubia. It holds some of the earliest collections of ancient Egyptian material, including important excavated remains such as those form the intact tomb of Kha and Meryt at Thebes. Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna (Austria)

The Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna holds collections of ancient Egyptian and Nubian material in their Egyptian and Near Eastern Department. The museum web site has both German and English language versions.

Rijksmuseum van Oudheden, Leiden (Netherlands)

The Rijksmuseum (also known as RMO) in Leiden care for another extensive collections of ancient Egyptian and Nubian material. The museum web site has both Dutch and English language versions.

Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung, Berlin (Germany)

The Ägyptisches Museum und Papyrussammlung in Berlin holds some of the most famous works of art from ancient Egypt, in addition to a large collection of ancient Egyptian papyri (inscribed papyrus documents). The Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology at the University of California in Berkeley maintains an early collection of ancient Egyptian material. It houses the largest collection of excavated Predynastic artifacts in North America.
