ABSTRACT: This mixed methods study aims to investigate the overall use of vocabulary learning strategies reported by Saudi male/female university students in the US. The quantitative phase aimed to provide information of statistical analysis findings reported by the participants in the web survey questionnaires. In the qualitative phase of study, semi-structured interviews aim to explain in depth the findings obtained from the quantitative phase based on students' experiences and beliefs of vocabulary leaning strategies. To date, very few research has been done to explore vocabulary learning strategies employed by Saudi students especially in ESL context. In terms of literature in (applied) linguistics, English as a second language (ESL), English as a foreign language (EFL), and TESOL, this study will contribute to better understanding of the vocabulary strategies reported by Saudi male/female university students in the US. Additionally, this mixed method study provides valuable findings for instructors and educators, in both ESL/EFL, about the overall use of vocabulary learning strategies reported by Saudi university student in the US.
