Lilian OnianwaFrom Nigeria and currently residing in Germantown, Tennessee, Lilian Onianwa is making waves as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Journalism & Strategic Media Department at the University of Memphis. With a robust academic background, including a Bachelor's in Psychology and a Master's in Personality and Social Psychology from the prestigious University of Ibadan, Nigeria, Lilian brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her current pursuit: a Master's degree in Journalism and Strategic Media.

Expected to graduate in Spring 2025, Lilian's research focuses on Digital Wellbeing and Media Effects. She is passionate about delving into how exposure to various forms of media influences thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, shedding light on crucial intersections between media consumption and psychological wellbeing.

Among Lilian's notable accomplishments is the publication of her Master's thesis, which explores the Influence of Perceived Covid-19 vulnerability and death anxiety on the quality of life of frontline media workers in Nigeria.

Last semester, her favorite class was Media Writing and Editing with Professor Casey Hilder—an exciting opportunity to engage in news writing. Currently, Media Law has her heart. It's thrilling for her to learn about the power of the First Amendment and all the rights she has at her disposal as a journalist. All her professors are fantastic.
