Long-Term Disability

The University of Memphis is partnering with the Tennessee Board of Regents to offer long-term disability (LTD) coverage to our eligible employees. The vendor offering this coverage is named MetLife.

Protect your income in the event of a serious illness or accident by enrolling in voluntary long-term disability insurance with MetLife.  Learn more about long-term disability by visiting the State of Tennessee's Partners for Health website.

Tennessee Board of Regents voluntary long-term disability plan replaces up to 60 percent of an employee’s base salary to a maximum monthly benefit of $7,000.  Premium rates for this voluntary long term disability plan are calculated based on annual income.

State higher education employees will be automatically enrolled in long-term disability Option 3, and the state will pay 100% of the premiums. Electing Options 1, 2, or 4 require the employee  to be responsible for the premiums.
