About Dr. Bar

Dr. Bar holds a Ph.D. in Ancient Semitic Languages and Literature from New York University, and serves as Director of the Bornblum Judaic Studies program.

His scholarly interests are the religion of ancient Israel, the history of modern Jewish biblical scholarship and comparative Semitic languages.

Among his notable publications are three books, A Letter that has not been Read - Dreams in the Hebrew Bible (2001); I Deal Death and Give Life - Biblical Perspective on Death (2010); and God's First King - the story of Saul.
